Songs of the Week: 8/10/2020-8/14/2020

Good morning, guys, gals, & non-binary pals!

Today is the first day of classes (lovingly known as FDOC) of my Junior year of college. As some of you are sharing the same sentiment with me, I thought it would only be right to curate a list of tracks that'll get us all ready to power through the week! Some of these tracks can serve as morning wake-up songs, hype songs, study tracks, or whatever you all need them to be in the coming week.

Here are this week's Songs of the Week:

1) "waves -- Tame Impala Remix" by Miguel

Although I have shared this track before, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to share it again! This song has been my morning wake-up anthem for the past few weeks. With its infectious beat and stunning use of electronics, it's not hard to feel motivated while listening to this track! Go listen!

2) "So We Won't Forget" by Khruangbin

This track is a GREAT studying song, if you enjoy studying to songs that shake up the traditionally instrumental studying playlists! Though it features a few vocals, they're quite soft and mellow. In fact, most of the track is driven by an eclectic-sounding electric guitar! If you love easy-listening songs featuring some soft electric guitar, this is the track for you! Go listen!

3) "Buttons" by meija

Recently, this track has been the soundtrack for my morning routine. By combining electronically-laced beats and an indie feel, meija produces a feeling of warmth, which can only be paralleled to the heat of the rising sun. It's no wonder I fell in love with this track on my morning walks! Go listen!

4) "Watching from Great Heights" by Sundara Karma

Special shout-out to a Jimmy Johns in Asheville for this track! (They were playing it in the store and I loved it!) This track is a great driving song, especially for those unplanned, spontaneous adventures among friends in college! While listening, you feel as if you are in a coming-of-age movie, which, for most of us, is the dream. Go listen!

5) "Gidget" by Free Nationals, Anderson .Paak, T.Nava

Name a better Friday anthem...I'll wait. In all seriousness, this track is quintessential for all of your Friday nights! With a groove like no other, you'll find yourself dancing to "Gidget" for ages upon end. Plus, one of the artists featured utilizes a talk box, which gives a retro, disco feel to the rest of the track! Go listen!

Have a great week!

Peace.
